DEVELOP Enhancing Community Support - promotes and enhances the effectiveness of local voluntary and community groups by providing them with a range of support services. As a member of the National Association for Voluntary and Community Action they deliver five core function:

• Services and Support – enhancing the effectiveness of local voluntary and community groups by providing them with a range of basic and more involved services;
• Liaison - as a focal point for the local voluntary and community sector they encourage networking between individuals and groups within the sector, and between local groups and the statutory and private sectors;
• Representation - with government encouraging involvement of voluntary and community groups in shaping and delivering services, they enable the views of local groups to be represented;
• Development work – they take the lead in identifying gaps in service provision, and work with groups to develop new and innovative services to meet these needs;
• Strategic partnerships - working in partnership with local government and other statutory agencies to shape the delivery of services and playing a key role in empowering local groups to take part in partnerships.

In partnership with West of England Consortium DEVELOP:

• Is a delivery partner for the Capacity Building Networks project;
• Chairs the BANES Voluntary Sector Forum;
• Is a main delivery partner for the consortium’s BIG Lottery project Reaching Out: Linking In.
